High Criteria Inc. Announces the Immediate Availability of Total Recorder Professional Edition, Total Recorder Standard Edition and Total Recorder Developer Edition, Versions 5.3.

October 13, 2005, Toronto, Canada

High Criteria Inc, a world leader in computer audio recording systems, today announced the immediate availability of new versions of its flagship product, Total Recorder.

The Standard Edition, Professional Edition and the Developer Edition have all been upgraded to Version 5.3. At the same time, a new add-on for Digital Mixing has been made available. The Digital Mixing add-on will be of interest to any user who wants to mix sound files or record mixed Software and Sound board inputs for karaoke type applications. Note that the Digital Mixing add-on is only available to Total Recorder Professional Edition and Developer Edition users. It will not work with the Standard Edition of the product.

In addition to other standard maintenance, Total Recorder V5.3 Standard Edition offers a number of new features including:

  • The ability to quickly restore Total Recorder’s default configuration and recording parameters. For more information, refer to the sections of the Total Recorder Help facility on configuration and the description of the “Recording source and parameters” dialog.
  • The real speed of accelerated recording is now displayed.

In addition to maintenance and the new features added to Standard Edition, the Professional and Developer Editions of Version 5.3 includes the following changes:

  • High quality formats are now supported. This includes high-quality PCM formats (up to 192kHz 24bit and float mono and stereo), high-quality FLAC formats (up to 192kHz 24bit mono and stereo), high-quality Windows Media Audio Lossless stereo formats (up to 96kHz 24bit), and the stereo formats of Windows Media Audio Professional codec.
  • You can use the new free-of-charge Digital Mixer Add-on. This add-on allows you to mix a recording with another file or the contents of the Clipboard, record in mix-over mode (to add comments, for example), perform mixed software and sound board recording, and to save mixed sound streams separately. For more information, see the Digital Mixer Add-on overview.
  • File name generation rules can now include the week number, job comments, or the day-of-week name. For more information, see the “Using the Generation Rule Dialogs” section of the Total Recorder Help facility.
  • A new plug-in for capturing clip information from Windows Media Player is available that offers a number of advantages over the older version of the plug-in. The plug-in can capture clip information while the Windows Media Player window is not in a normal state (e.g. playing video clips in full screen mode). For more information, see “How to get and use clip info from an external player” and “Split Settings” in the Total Recorder Help facility.
  • The Sound image window has been improved and additional controls, buttons, and displays have been added.

All Total Recorder V5.3 Editions are immediately available and may be downloaded for evaluation and purchase from the High Criteria Web Site at www.highcriteria.com. The evaluation versions of the programs will record for unlimited lengths of time, but will add an audible noise about every 60 seconds.
