High Criteria Inc. Announces the Immediate Availability of Total Recorder Professional Edition, Total Recorder Standard Edition and Total Recorder Developer Edition, Versions 5.0.

High Criteria Inc, a world leader in computer audio recording systems, today announced the immediate availability of new versions of its flagship product, Total Recorder. The Standard Edition, Professional Edition and the Developer Edition have all been upgraded to Version 5.0.

In addition to other standard maintenance, Total Recorder V5.0 offers a number of new features including:

• Support for product add-ons. The first two add-ons are being made available at the same time as the V5.0 release. A Spectrum Analyzer and Graphic Equalizer is provided as one add-on and an Audio Restoration facility is provided as a second add-on. The Spectrum Analyzer and Graphic Equalizer Add-on is a no-cost download. The Audio Restoration Add-on is available to Total Recorder users for $32.95 USD. • Both the Professional Edition and Developer Edition V5.0 have been enhanced with a major new Batch Processing Facility. Using the batch processing feature, users may select one or more files and:
• change the file format,
• apply sound effects (normalization, fade in/out, add-ons),
• repair MP3 files or manage file tags and file types, and
• define rules for generating target file names.

• New options for Normalization. Now you can remove the DC offset of a sound stream and normalize the left and right channels of a stereo file independently. Please see "Working with Normalization and DC Offset" in the Help file for further details.
• A boundary click suppression feature prevents clicks in boundary points when modifying a sound file (e.g. adding or deleting parts of a file). Please see "Editing a Sound File" in the Help file for further details.
• To adjust the playing volume and recording levels, balance controls have been added. Please see "Setting Recording Parameters" in the Help file for further details.
• Shortcut keys can now be customized. Please see "Using the Keyboard Tab" in the Help file for further details.
• The Playing volume and recording level panel is now hidden and can be toggled on/off. Please see the "View Menu" details in the Help file for further details.

All Total Recorder V5.0 Editions are immediately available and may be downloaded for evaluation and purchased from the High Criteria Web Site at www.highcriteria.com. Users wanting to try the evaluation versions of the program should make note of a change to the evaluation versions of the program. The new evaluation versions of the program will record for unlimited lengths of time, but will add an audible noise about every 60 seconds. Previous evaluation versions of the program did not add this noise, but were instead limited to recordings of 40 seconds or less.

V5.0 Standard Edition is available now for $11.95 U.S., V5.0 Professional Edition is available now for $35.95 U.S. and V5.0 Developer Edition is available for $99.95 U.S. All versions are available, free of charge, to previous purchasers.

Previous purchasers of Total Recorder Standard Edition must obtain a new Registration key to use V5.0. Registration key formats were last changed in the following releases of Total Recorder:

• Standard Edition - version 5.0
• Professional Edition - V4.0
• Developer Edition - V4.1

New registration keys may be obtained by using the self-service registration key management system. This system uses the email address under which the product was originally purchased. If this email address is no longer valid, then users requiring a new key must email High Criteria at support@highcriteria.com. Users should specify their registration name and E-mail address from the time of registering and their new E-mail address.
