High Criteria Announces Dictation Buddy V2.0

High Criteria Inc. Announces the Immediate Availability of Dictation Buddy V2.0

May 18, 2001

High Criteria Inc, a world leader in PC based audio recording systems, today announced the availability of Dictation Buddy Version 2.0.

Dictation Buddy V2.0 introduces new features that will be of interest to those who create recordings and to those making transcriptions from recordings. The new features include:

  • A new "Stand-by" recording mode. In Stand-by mode, Dictation Buddy monitors the input sound stream for a specified level of sound. If the sound stream is quiet and only contains, for example, ordinary background noises, then no recording will take place. Once Dictation Buddy finds a "louder" sound on the line, recording begins automatically. Stand-by mode can be used to eliminate long gaps in dictation caused when a person pauses their speech. Stand-by mode is also useful for telephone recording, where the time between calls may be left unrecorded.
  • A new Auto Save facility works with the stand-by mode to save individual recordings, delaminated by periods of silence, into separate files. Pre-set file names may be designed according to either a time stamp or a sequential numbering system.
  • "Hot-keys" allow those performing transcription to manage the playback through the PC's keyboard. With Dictation Buddy minimized and a word processor, such as Word active, playback functions such as Play, Pause, Rewind and FF may be invoked through the keyboard.
  • A number of reliability and stability enhancements have also been added.

Dictation Buddy Version 2.0 is immediately available and may be downloaded and purchased from the High Criteria Web Site.
