Audio File Split Features (Professional Edition Only)

The Audio File Split Features in Total Recorder Professional are facilities designed to assist in breaking up or "Splitting" an audio file. As recordings are made, a "Split Now" button on the toolbar may be used to manually cause the file to be split at any moment. Additionally, users may define a set of conditions under which a file should be automatically split. These conditions may be applied against an existing audio file or they may be used with a scheduled recording, to automatically split a scheduled recording file.

The Split facility also has three buttons that may be conveniently used with the Sound Image facility to split an existing sound file. The first button causes the current position locator to jump to the next point in the file that matches the conditions for a file split. The middle button deletes the portion of the sound file from its beginning, to the current position locator, and the third button saves the portion of the sound file from its beginning to the current position locator, into a new file, while at the same time, deleting from the active file.

As illustrated in the example below, recordings may be split automatically, based on the level of the sound. In some cases, this feature may be used to distinguish individual songs from within a file of a number of recorded songs.
